About me
About 20 years ago I went to art school. And on the list of things to buy before you started was an SLR-camera. Had no clue as to what that was. I went to a photography store to find out. Left there with my first SLR-camera. And loved it. Loved the pictures I could take with it, loved the different rolls of film and the different kinds of photo paper. I developed a love/hate affair with the darkroom. I eventually majored in design but photography was a big part of my art school days. But somehow I didn't see a future for me in design. So I went to university, studied English, became a teacher. Photography became a hobby. Took the odd course, bought a better camera and kept taking photos.
And then the world changed. Everything and everyone went digital. I was late to catch on. I was one of those ‘love the analog quality much better’-people. But it became harder to buy film and more expensive to develop it. My hobby and I were becoming obsolete.
I gave up and bought a dSLR, yes, the d is for digital. And was absolutely puzzled by the amounts of possibilities, the buttons, the settings, the histogram, JPEG or RAW and all the info on the display.
Then we moved to Switzerland. And suddenly I had time on my hands. I signed up for a professional photography course. Every Friday from 9 to 5 I underwent severe training in all aspects of photography. To keep my knowledge up to date I take part in workshops, like the landscape photography workshop I am about to participate in in Yorkshire, UK.
I love photography and I love to teach. So I hope to be able to greet you in one of my workshops in the near future!
